Who this is for
You run trails, ride singletrack, play pickup ball or league volleyball, coach your keiki’s team, or you’re the keiki or high schooler chasing a starting spot. This program is for runners, mountain bikers, court and field athletes, keiki and high-school athletes, and weekend warriors — anyone whose sport put them on our schedule and who wants a real plan to get back to it.
Common injuries we see
- Ankle sprains — a roll or twist from uneven trail, a bad landing or a quick cut.
- Knee injuries — ligament or meniscus strains, and kneecap pain from running, jumping or pivoting.
- Shoulder and elbow overuse — the repetitive load of throwing, swinging or paddling sports.
- Hamstring and calf strains — sprinting, quick starts and stops, or a strain that keeps coming back.
- Shin and IT-band pain — the nagging, load-related pain that builds up over a season of running or riding.
How we work
We start with a hands-on evaluation to find out what’s actually driving the pain or limiting your movement. Treatment blends manual therapy with progressive exercise, neuromuscular re-education and balance work, building your program up as you’re ready for more, plus a home program to keep things moving between visits.
As you improve, we add in sport-specific drills — the movements your sport actually asks of you — and test your strength and movement before you go back to your sport.
When to see a doctor first
Some injuries need a doctor’s evaluation before PT. Get checked first, or get to an ER, if you have:
- Symptoms of a head injury or concussion — headache, confusion, dizziness, nausea, or feeling foggy after a hit
- A pop at the time of injury followed by fast swelling, or a knee that locks up or gives way
- Trouble bearing weight on the injured leg
- Visible deformity at the injury site
- Numbness or weakness
Insurance
Hawaiʻi law lets you see a PT without a referral. Some plans still require one before they’ll cover visits — see Insurance & pricing for what yours may ask for.
When to book
Sideline time is frustrating. Book an evaluation and let’s get you back to your sport.
